It feels like everything is repeating itself.
Soleil, once excited for the opportunities that awaited her once she gained the independence of adulthood, the life she imagined vast with joy and security, is now stricken constantly by all that is happening around her. War, inequality, scandal…living in constant terror that this isn’t the worst, and that more is yet to come.
With the anxiety that overtakes her daily as she scrolls endlessly on her phone, each headline blending into the next. She has found there is one place she can find refuge - her mind.
There, she can imagine endlessly sunny days. She runs through fields of blossoming flowers, they wave gently as she grazes by. The air filled with the beautiful songs of birds chirping, water rushing downstream, crashing into sitting rocks along its way.
Her heart filled with bliss.
She rests under the embracing shade of a tree. Taking in the beauty of this peace filled world for one second believing it to be tangible. Beaming, she takes one last deep breath, “ahahhh”... and returns to her world where everything seems to be repeating itself.
